Asterix & obelix – im auftrag ihrer majestät stream

Asterix: [Snaps] Oh, I can't believe this! We've been trudging all over Gaul with our stupid little crib notes for weeks! Not one of these guys is good enough!

Vitalstatistix: Asterix, don't get upset.

Asterix: I am not upset! Just like you, I can stumble and fall.

[Pretends to fall]

Asterix: Oop! Ow! See that? I almost fell down. That's it, I'm done. I need a replacement. There. Meet my successor. The new first warrior of our village! Here's your dagger. And your helmet too and your potion.

Geriatrix: Hmm? - What was that? But by Teutates...

Asterix: You have a good time now. I'll be doing something else! 'Cause I'm good and fed up with the indomitables who can't see beyond their own moustaches! Obelix, are you coming?

Obelix: No Mister Asterix I'm very much not coming! I'm not following a little man who chooses an old fogey to replace him over his so-called bestest buddy! Fare ye well, Mister Asterix!

[Asterix is shocked over Obelix defying him and leaves]

Vitalstatistix: Asterix, Asterix, don't be foolish! Come on! Please, Getafix, do something!

Getafix: Asterix is free to go. My quest is not over. And if you choose not to follow me, I will understand. And I will climb up the mountain without you.

The Adventures of Asterix is set in 50 BC, in a fictional village in northwest Armorica (a region of ancient Gaul mostly identical to modern Brittany). The other sides of the village are on the edge of a thick forest, within which there are contains four Roman garrisons which are intented to keep an eye on the village.

This village is celebrated as the only part of Gaul not yet conquered by Julius Caesar and his Roman legions. This is achieved by the inhabitants gaining superhuman strength by drinking the magic potion brewed by the village druid Getafix, which allows them to confront and defeat any advancing Romans. The villagers lead a content, proud lifestyle, often getting into fights among each other for fun or against patrolling legionaries from the Roman camps.

Asterix's adventures range between a wide variety of locales, including the village itself, Gaul, Rome and other far-flung countries. Frequently, Asterix and friends must deal with the Romans' attempts to conquer the village, defend their pride as indomitable Gaulish warriors, or offer assistance to those in need.

Asterix

Asterix, French Astérix, French cartoon character, a small-statured cunning Gallic warrior who, with the help of a magical strength potion, defends his village and goes on comic globe-trotting adventures. Asterix was created by writer René Goscinny and illustrator Albert Uderzo and debuted in 1959 in the French comic magazine Pilote.

Asterix is one of the most beloved characters in French popular culture. He resides in a remote Gaulish village in the middle of the Roman Empire as does his best friend, Obelix. Having fallen into a vat of the potion when he was an infant, Obelix is extraordinarily strong. He is also rather clumsy and is the frequent (if unwitting) source of injuries and accidents in the village. He is not allowed to drink the strength potion for fear that it will make him even more destructive, and his attempts to sneak a draft are the source of many comic mishaps.

Pop Culture Quiz

Asterix, Obelix, and their fellow villagers regularly scuffle with Roman legionnaires, an activity that the Gauls thoroughly enjoy. Asterix’s adventures carry him to many locales, including Spain, Greece, Egypt, and (precolonial) America. Foreign cultures are portrayed in humorous stereotype, as are the French. Asterix generally responds to their foibles with amazed disbelief. He inevitably contributes something substantive to the cultures he visits, such as bringing about the Britons’ discovery of tea and the Belgians’ creation of french fries.

Goscinny and Uderzo began working together in 1951, creating a number of comic book heroes who met with varying degrees of success. The 1959 debut of Asterix was an immediate sensation, and the character quickly became the central focus of the collaborators’ careers. In 1977 Goscinny died suddenly at age 51, in the middle of the production of Asterix’s 24th bound “album.” Uderzo continued creating new Asterix stories as both writer and illustrator, though he kept Goscinny’s name on the cover of all subsequent volumes.

In addition to more than 30 comic book albums, which have been translated into dozens of languages, Asterix spawned a number of live-action and animated films, a vast array of merchandise, and even an amusement park, Parc Astérix, north of Paris.

Although no romantic interest has been introduced for Asterix as of yet, it seems obvious that Asterix is more susceptible to the charms of women than his best friend, Obelix.
