Literature and Composition: Reading, Writing,Thinking1st EditionCarol Jago, Lawrence Scanlon, Renee H. Shea, Robin Dissin Aufses 1,697 solutions Is based on a person's use of voice and body rather than on the use of words multiple choice?Nonverbal communication is communication based on a person's use of voice and body, rather than the use of words.
What is speech delivery based on?There are four main kinds of speech delivery: impromptu, extemporaneous, manuscript, and memorized. Impromptu speaking involves delivering a message on the spur of the moment, as when someone is asked to “say a few words.” Extemporaneous speaking consists of delivering a speech in a conversational fashion using notes.
What is extemporaneous speech?Extemporaneous speeches are developed through outlining ideas, not writing them out word-for-word. They are practiced ahead of time, rehearsed and re-rehearsed (extemporaneous speeches are not impromptu), using a keyword outline of single words and short, 3-5 word phrases.
What is nonverbal communication and why is it important to effective public speaking?Nonverbal communication is the communication we engage in that isn't written or spoken language, but still creates meaning. Eye contact, one of the most important nonverbal cues, keeps your audience engaged, makes you believable, and opens up communication.
