You might have noticed all accountant team members can now add apps to clients they have been granted access. This is a great relief to many firms with multiple accounting firm team members. Previously, only the QuickBooks Online Accountant Admin had the ability to add third party apps to client files. So, this represents a substantial change in the capabilities of QuickBooks Online Accountant for your accounting firm.

Now, when you log into QuickBooks Online Accountant and view the Apps tab, all accounting firm team members with permissions to the given client can also see and add third party apps.

To add client Apps as the Accountant:

  1. Login to QuickBooks Online Accountant
  2. From the Navigation Bar, choose Apps
  3. Choose the Client Apps dashboard
  4. Select the Client to add third party apps too
  5. Click “Add App
  6. Continue the steps provided within QBO-Accountant for the desired App(s)

Even though multiple team members can add third party apps, it appears that the user who connected the app is the only one with permissions to launch the app they connected. There appears to be a few limitations as to which apps Non-Accountant Admin users can add, but most third-party apps can be added all team members with client access.
