The hands should be locked behind the back to rotate the shoulders posteriorly or arms should be raised in front or above the head.
What is the best position to demonstrate sternum?Patient position. patient is erect with the left or right side of the thorax adjacent to the image receptor.. patient's hands are behind their back.. chin is raised as to be out of the image field.. arms are brought together behind their back so the chest is pushing outwards (pigeon chest). patient is standing upright.. How should the patient be positioned for a PA axial projection?-Elevate head and spine with pillow in true lateral position. -Adjust height of head and center to midsagittal plane of the head to a vertically positioned grid. -OML is perpendicular to plane of IR. -Direct horizontal CR to perpendicular, or 15 degrees caudad, to exit nasion.
What is the patient position oblique angulation?For the oblique view of the cervical spine, the patient may be erect or recumbent. The patient is rotated 45° to the left, to demonstrate the right-side neural foramina. The CR is directed to the C-4 vertebra with 15°-20° cephalad angulation.
